Good-bye, and thanks for all the…

After 50 years of serving Gainesville, Florida and the surrounding communities, the North-Central Florida Chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals is formally ceasing operations.

The chapter has been in continuous operation since its original charter in July 1971 as a chapter of the Data Processing Management Association.

In support of its educational mission, the local chapter of AITP hosted monthly in-person presentations where discussions were led by local information technology speakers. The chapter also arranged member tours of local IT-related sites.

Over the years, the Chapter included members from employers across the North Central Florida area, including the University of Florida, Santa Fe College, the City of Gainesville, Alachua County, Clay Electric, the Florida Farm Bureau, Cox Communications, InfoTech, ITProTV (now ACI Learning), Nationwide Insurance, Scan Technology, Barr Systems, and more.

The Chapter regularly received recognition for outstanding performance at the local, regional, and national levels.

Any remaining Chapter assets will be donated to local eligible IT-oriented educational resources, including Gainesville Hackerspace, the University of Florida, and Santa Fe College.
